The New Mexico Technology Council is proud to support TEDxABQ and the TEDxABQ team’s many many valuable efforts (we’re especially excited about collaboration between our Women in Technology group and TEDxABQWomen).

As you most likely know, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment & Design.  All of these are strengths in New Mexico, but we don’t always tell that story as well as we could.  There’s often the impression that Technology is something ‘they’ do, whether that they is at Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Intel or somewhere else. What the TEDx events remind us of – because they do them so well – is that ‘they’ is really ‘us’. That we’re part of a larger community. And that only by engaging with the larger community can we build the thriving regions that spark and grow business, retain and attract the best talent, and support the special quality of life that New Mexico is rightly known for.

Of course TEDxABQ is sold out, but visit them at for info on the event, live video, and other simulcast locations in New Mexico.

Visit partner/sponsor Northern New Mexico Connect for more on their efforts to help innovators, grow companies and build community.

As I mentioned above, it’s a particular pleasure to have our Women in Technology group involved in the upcoming TEDxABQWomen event on December 1st – and the effort in general.  Come to a special October salon-like gathering at O’Niell’s (info here) and visit their page to learn more.

This is a particularly good opportunity to highlight the great work of women in our community (need help in nominating someone? Please let us know!).
