We’ve mentioned it before here and elsewhere, but we’re proud to be part of continuing efforts with several partners to encourage more startup development and activity in New Mexico. One resource that’s been useful in helping build and especially promote the entrepreneurial community is the Startup America Partnership (http://www.s.co/). We’re excited to be part of the discussions around standing up “Startup New Mexico”.
But one of the aspects we most respect about the group is that it’s really led by entrepreneurs themselves. While we have many great organizations lending a hand to spur economic development, we’ve seen time and again that it’s when entrepreneurs lead the way that great things happen.
There’s an opportunity to take a big step forward this week when part of the Startup America team visits Albuquerque to discuss the next actions we need to take and we need more startup minded folks to get involved. Can you participate and spread the word?
This meeting will be held on Friday, June 1st at 2 PM at WESST Enterprise Center located at 609 Broadway Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87102. The purpose of the meeting will be have a roundtable discussion with Startup America staff, entrepreneurs, and interested stakeholders to determine the strengths and weaknesses in the entrepreneurial environment in the region and how Startup New Mexico could address them.
For those interested, but unable to attend the meeting we are making efforts to provide conference call information and video conferencing. Probable sites include Arrowhead Center at NMSU in Las Cruces, The Hive in Los Alamos/White Rock, and the Santa Fe Business Incubator in Santa Fe (confirmation and more details soon).
Looking forward to seeing you there!
