Sunward is one of New Mexico’s largest credit unions, serving over 175,000 members and managing more than $4.5 billion in assets with a growing footprint that spans 16 branches across the Southwest, California’s Bay Area and Durango, Colorado.

As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that exists solely to serve its members and communities, Sunward offers dedicated, personalized financial service and competitive rates on certificates, credit cards, home loans and auto loans, savings and checking accounts, and business account management.

We serve our members, not only as a financial institution but as a community partner built and shaped by the communities we serve.

What is your organization’s superpower?

Why do you choose to do business in New Mexico?
In 1948, 15 employees of Sandia National Laboratories saw the need for a credit union in Albuquerque. Established that same year as Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union, our history and service to our members and communities has always been rooted in New Mexico.

Our evolution to Sunward has represented a bold expansion of our vision to better serve all communities in New Mexico. Today, we not only serve employees of Sandia National Laboratories and their family members, but also the employees and families of more than 1,400 partner companies and others throughout New Mexico and the broader Southwest.

New Mexico is where our employees and our members live and work. When we invest here, we know that we’re investing in our own people, and in our community.
