Local Family Business Turns March Madness Into an Economic Engine for Albuquerque

For most New Mexicans, March Madness means brackets, buzzer-beaters and gathering with friends. For Document Solutions, Inc. (DSI), it has become something bigger: a way to strengthen Albuquerque’s business community and keep dollars circulating locally.

The minority woman-owned, second-generation family business will host its 3rd Annual March to the Madness Tech Show x NCAA Watch Party on March 19, 2026, at its headquarters on 4121 Prospect Avenue NE. What began as a creative customer appreciation event has evolved into a community-centered model for sustainable business growth.

Founded in 1997, DSI has spent more than 28 years serving New Mexico companies with office technology, managed IT, and workflow solutions. But company leadership says long-term success is not built on one-time equipment sales, it’s built on relationships and recurring service agreements that allow the business to hire locally and reinvest in the community.

“Our sustainability isn’t just about moving hardware,” said Jocelyn Gorman, President of DSI. “It’s about helping other local businesses grow. When they thrive, they reinvest in companies like ours. That’s how you build a resilient local economy.”

Each year, DSI opens its showroom to hundreds of business owners, nonprofit leaders, educators, healthcare administrators and government decision-makers for a free, full-day event featuring live NCAA tournament viewing on massive video walls, food, networking, product demonstrations and business productivity workshops.

Last year’s event welcomed more than 300 attendees! That success often leads to a natural question: how does a local family business fund an event of this scale and offer it free to the community?

The answer lies in DSI’s unique position. The company operates with the flexibility and agility of a locally owned business while leveraging the resources of national technology manufacturers. Through long-standing, carefully fostered partnerships, DSI collaborates with its manufacturers to help underwrite the experience. In return, those partners gain something highly valuable: direct access to hundreds of qualified decision-makers in a live, hands-on expo environment.

As a non-exclusive dealership representing multiple national brands, DSI has built a model that creates incentive alignment. Manufacturers participate as tech expo vendors, showcasing their equipment face-to-face with real prospects. DSI brings the audience, manages the ongoing service relationships, and creates a structured environment where meaningful business conversations happen organically. The result is a mutually beneficial ecosystem that strengthens partnerships while keeping the event free and accessible to Albuquerque’s business community.

And the process is proven. Last year March to the Madness generated nearly $2 million in closed business.

Want to experience the momentum firsthand this year? It has quietly become Albuquerque’s best kept networking secret, but following word has spread quickly. Feel free to register below before capacity is reached.
