Several of us with the NM Technology Council have been hard at work supporting this year’s Tech Fiesta ABQ (running September 14th – 23rd – it’s going to be great!), but that’s also something we like to call the “Season of Innovation” with events going on throughout New Mexico.
And one prime location is Los Alamos. It’s simply a great week to visit, and here are a few reasons why:
The main reason is the new Los Alamos Science Festival – formerly The Next Big Idea fest. It’s a fantastic time of year to learn more about the many people and organizations doing ground-breaking work in tech, the sciences and innovation in general. Great also for budding entrepreneurs and for companies interested in hiring and working with high end talent. Please consider attending!

Entrepreneurial Teen Grand Challenge
This event will bring together winners of teen entrepreneurial events in Taos, Espanola, Santa Fe and Los Alamos. These teams will present their winning pitches to a panel of judges from the startup and investment community who will select the grand champion to be the coveted top Teen Entrepreneurial idea in Northern New Mexico!

‘Atomic Ant Sand’ with Robb Hermes
Ever wonder how a scientific discovery is made? Learn from Robb Hermes, one of two curious scientists who, through their interest in the sand from ant hills, rediscovered the droplet forms of Trinitite and came to a theory on how the Trinitite formed. Trinitite is the glassy mineral that was made by the first atomic test.
