The Albuquerque – Bernalillo County Trade Alliance is planning a “trade mission” visit to Taiwan later this summer (deadline for sign-up is July 19th). We’ve been watching other states and regions achieve great success with regular efforts to build connections between local business and potential partners and consumers abroad.

Since this is unfamiliar territory for many of us, we asked Randy Trask of the Albuquerque – Bernalillo County Trade Alliance to provide a little more background on why these might be appropriate for you:

What type of company should consider this Trade Mission?

  • ·         Any company that is interested in selling or expanding sales in Taiwan.  Pre-qualified/Pre-arranged business meetings will be coordinated by the New Mexico Greater China Trade Office for all participating New Mexico companies.
  • ·         However, there are specific opportunities for:

o   Companies in semiconductor related industry due to the SEMICON Trade Show that will be taking place concurrently with the trade mission. http://www.semicontaiwan.org/en/

o   Companies interested in meeting with the Tenants of the Hsinchu Science and Technology Park:

What is the benefit of participating/joining this trade mission?

  • ·         Credibility – This is an official government delegation led by an elected official.  This provides participating companies with an instant level of credibility in Asian markets.
  • ·         Savings – Substantially discounted airfare, lodging and ground transportation, combined with business matchmaking at no cost to participating companies makes this opportunity MUCH more affordable than if they were to do it on their own (example: 2013 Spring Trade Mission to Israel saved participating companies almost HALF of the regular cost)
  • ·         Structure and On the Ground Support – Going to a foreign market can be daunting.  Under a structured agenda and with support on the ground, it leaves participating companies with more time to do business instead of worrying about communication and logistical issues.

Attached you will find the mission brochure complete with cost and tentative agenda.
