Schools and other programs around New Mexico will recognize Computer Science Education Week (December 9-15) with events like #HourOfCode and more. The week is an effort to increase awareness of the need for Computer Science education and provide opportunities for students to learn and connect. The annual celebration was launched in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Hopper (December 9, 1906).

Picachu Elementary School has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Code.org to purchase laptop computers and other technology to recognize their work (story here). 

In the Albuquerque area, Middle & High School Students are invited to join Albuquerque’s tech having fun with Svenskkasinon online casino guide community for an “Hour of Code” at Deep Dive Coders where students will learn the concepts behind coding with hands-on instruction from professional programmers! YDI’s computer clubhouse will also open for hour of code activities for youth from 12 to 18 who will learn more about working in programming/coding and STEM, as well as instruction in coding with tools from www.codeacademy.com and scratch.mit.edu (more information here).
